Native American Days Coming Sept. 26th

Angel Mounds

The public is invited to Native American Days at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville

First the first time since the pandemic, the public is invited to Native American Days at Angel Mounds. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

2025 marks the 40th year for the event at the state historic site off Pollack Avenue.

Angel Mounds Director Mike Linderman says the public is welcome to the Opening Night Reception and Native American Fine Arts Show and Sale, Friday, September 26th, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Linderman says the free event provides an opportunity for Native American artists from across the country to showcase their work, which he describes as “handmade, authentic and deeply meaningful.”

A vendor market will be open Saturday and Sunday, September 27th and 28th.

Spanning 600 acres, Angel Mounds includes eleven earthen mounds built by Native Americans in a vast city that preceded Evansville by hundreds of years.

It remains a sacred place for tribal nations and is one of the best preserved Mississippian sites.
