The clean-up of the Evansville riverbank begins at 8:30 Saturday (Sept. 20) in front of the new Water and Sewer Utility building

Volunteers will pick up trash along the Evansville riverfront this Saturday in celebration of World Cleanup Day.
WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Volunteers from Amcor and the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility will participate in the ORSANCO Ohio River Sweep.

The event is also open to the public. It starts at 8:30 Saturday morning outside the new Water & Sewer Utility building at 1200 Waterworks Road.

Volunteers should come prepared to get dirty and wear closed-toe shoes or boots. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

The Ohio River Sweep is composed of litter cleanup events all along the river and throughout the watershed.

Officials say the program raises awareness about the need for healthy rivers and streams within the Ohio River Basin.
