The EPA says cleanup from a chemical fire in Warrick County has been completed and a nearby park is reopening. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The September 6th fire at the PBTT facility off Vann Road left potentially dangerous ash on more than 100 properties.
The EPA says inspectors checked 80 of the properties, and ten of them needed cleanup.
Among those properties was Vann Park, which is reopening on Tuesday.
Officials say the ash that fell was not as dangerous as first feared but it can still irritate sensitive skin.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management will continue to monitor the fire site.
The blaze involved heavy metals and forced evacuations in Warrick and Henderson counties.
