The company that owns the Warrick County property where a chemical fire burned on Saturday says its top priority is community safety. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
PBTT says it’s grateful for the partnership with first responders and local, state, and federal authorities to remediate the situation at its facility off Vann Road.
The company says an environmental remediation team has been put in place to bolster the efforts.
PBTT also says residents can find updates on the EPA’s website.
The fire and its potentially dangerous white smoke prompted officials to issue shelter in place orders in Warrick and Henderson counties.
Runoff from the firefighting effort contaminated a nearby pond and ash from the burning metals landed in yards.
If you have ash on your property, you’re urged to not touch it and report it to the EPA’s Office of Public Affairs.
No injuries were reported at the fire scene.
