Nighttime Lane Closure Coming to Twin Bridge

File

The southbound U.S. 41 bridge between Evansville, IN and Henderson, KY will be down to one lane for overnight steel work

Drivers can expect a nighttime lane restriction on the southbound Twin Bridge, starting Wednesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says crews plan to work on the bridge nightly from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the project scheduled to wrap up by October 19th.

Officials say there’s no plan to alter traffic on the northbound bridge “at this time.”

The project consists primarily of repairs to issues that were found during a steel inspection in late 2024.

The Federal Highway Administration mandated inspections to identify the soundness of so-called butt welds on T-1 steel bridges.

The older northbound bridge was not built with that type of steel.

The Transportation Cabinet says during the work on the southbound span, engineers will monitor the daily traffic flow and may adjust the lane closure times if needed.
