The Rev. Phil Hoy led the Tri-State Food Bank in Evansville, IN, served as pastor of Zion United Church of Christ in Henderson, KY, and was elected to the Indiana House and the Vanderburgh County Council

A former Evansville area community leader has died. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Reverend Phil Hoy headed up the Tri-State Food Bank, was the pastor of Zion United Church of Christ in Henderson, served as an Indiana State Representative, was elected to the Vanderburgh County Council, and served in other leadership roles.

A social media post from the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party says Hoy dedicated his life to serving others—through his family, his faith community, and “his tireless commitment to making our community stronger and more compassionate.”

Hoy once joined the Republican Party, declaring himself a social liberal but a fiscal conservative.

The Revered Phil Hoy was 88.
