Cleveland said Mead Johnson was the first company to understand the role of DHA, the omega three fatty acid essential for brain development.
On Thursday there was a news event at their "flagship" Evansville location.
A brief program included a video address from Governor Mike Braun and words from US Rep. Mark Messmer and city Mayor Stephany Terry.
“You continue to show up for Evansville in ways that matter," she said. "You don't just operate here. You invest in our residents and our community at large.”
Terry highlighted Mead Johnson’s participation in United Way Day of Caring and helping little lambs through their giving trees campaign.
In 2017, Mead Johnson was purchased by UK-based multinational consumer goods company Reckitt.
Mead Johnson said it’s hired thousands of local residents in its 120-year history — employing 800 now, across 25 departments.
