Evansville firefighters extinguished a house fire on the city’s East Side Thursday morning. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Crews were dispatched to the home in the 1700 block of E. Franklin St., near Rotherwood, shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The first unit on scene reported smoke and flames coming from the single-story house.
A preliminary search found no one inside and there was no word of any injuries.
Crews battled the blaze for about a half-hour before tapping it out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
