A downtown Evansville establishment is inviting people to bring their electric bills to a “blackout.” WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
Arcademie, which offers food, drink, and arcade games, says it will not turn on the games, the lights, or the gas to the kitchen Wednesday evening.
The establishment on 6th St. says it’s shutting everything off that won’t spoil the food, warm the beverages, or risk your health.
Arcademie says it’s working to bring in people to talk about CenterPoint Energy bills, explain the charges, and discuss real solutions to high utility bills.
The establishment will offer board games, flashlights, and a CenterPoint bill contest.
Arcademie say it will chart the totals on a staircase with the highest bill winning a prize.
The event starts at sunset Wednesday, 7:27 p.m.
Another downtown restaurant, Angelo’s, recently posted a sign outside its door expressing anger and frustration with rising bills.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved a rate hike for CenterPoint that began in March.
The second phase of the increase is set for next March.
