Two people were arrested during a town hall conducted by Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith in Warrick County Wednesday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
During the event at the Ohio Township Trustee’s Office, a woman repeatedly shouted at Beckwith – as did others.
Multiple media outlets report authorities told the woman to stop or she would be removed.
After several warnings, the woman said she would leave on her own.
As she was leaving, the woman reportedly shouted obscenities at Beckwith and was tackled by a sheriff’s deputy.
A man who was yelling at the officers and trying to help the woman was also arrested.
In a release after the town hall, Warrick County Sheriff Mike Wilder said an investigative review is underway.
Wilder said it will “take time to review physical evidence and complete interviews of witnesses and individuals involved in the incident.”
In a social media post after the town hall, Beckwith said he appreciates and welcomes lively debate, but there were individuals with less than good intentions that resorted to “uncivil conduct.”
Beckwith thanked local law enforcement and first responders.
