Ford Motor Company is investing nearly two-billion dollars and creating more than two-thousand jobs in Louisville. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Gov. Andy Beshear joined Ford CEO Jim Farley, other company executives, and Louisville officials to announce what he calls a “monumental investment by one of Kentucky’s largest employers”
Beshear says Ford will introduce an innovative manufacturing process at the Louisville Assembly Plant to serve as the platform for an all-new, yet to be unveiled, electric mid-size pickup truck.
Officials say it’s the third-largest economic development project in Kentucky’s history.
It’s expected to bring with it 22-hundred jobs.
Ford’s presence in Kentucky dates back to 1913 when the Model T first rolled off the production line in Louisville.
Officials say since then, the company has grown its presence in the commonwealth to nearly 12,000 employees and close to 6,000 retirees.
Ford also partners with 165 Kentucky-based suppliers.
