Evansville Police issued dozens of tickets and warnings during a traffic enforcement detail on Friday. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The EPD says officers conducted the enforcement effort at two high-traffic areas: the redesigned US 41-Washington Avenue intersection and the Lloyd Expressway near the Weinbach exit.
Police say on the Lloyd, four officers conducted a four-hour detail that resulted in 28 traffic stops.
Of those, 27 citations were issued, along with 10 written warnings and one felony arrest.
Meanwhile, five officers focused on the newly redesigned intersection at 41 and Washington.
Over four hours, they made nine traffic stops, issuing one ticket and seven written warnings.
Police remind drivers that left turns are no longer allowed at the intersection.
Motorists now turn right and then use a designated U-turn lane at the next signal.
The design is intended to reduce collisions and improve safety for everyone.
Police ask drivers to follow the posted signs and be patient.
