Evansville firefighters battled two blazes – and extreme heat – during the noon hour Tuesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Evansville Police notified Central Dispatch of a fully engulfed house fire on Keller Street, east of Fulton Avenue, just before noon.
When crews arrived on the scene, a chief told them NOT to enter the burning house and battle the fire from the outside only.
Police advised firefighters that there was ammunition inside the house.
The blaze also damaged the house next door.
There was no word of any injuries or how the blaze started.
At the same time, Evansville firefighters responded to a mobile home fire at Oak Hill Road and Underhill Court.
Crews extinguished that fire in about 25 minutes.
There was no word of injuries or the cause of the fire.
Firefighters battled the blazes in 90-degree heat with a heat index of 103.
