Picket lines have gone up in Evansville. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, it means your trash may not be picked up:
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility says Republic Services and Teamsters Local 215 ratified a three-year labor agreement earlier this month.
But Teamsters from outside the Evansville area have placed picket lines at both the local hauling operation and Laubscher Meadows Landfill.
The EWSU says local employees are obligated to honor the nationally established picket lines.
The utility says services will be delayed with a primary focus on hospitals, long-term care facilities and other critical service needs.
The EWSU says if the situation continues, other employees of Republic Services -- known as Blue Crews -- will provide collection services.
Republic says it will provide daily updates.
The company’s sanitation workers in Boston have been on strike for since the start of July.
