The head of Right to Life of Southwest Indiana calls Planned Parenthood’s upcoming closure of its Evansville Clinic “great news.” WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
Dr. Jeff Ferguson posted his reaction on Right to Life’s Facebook page.
He thanked supporters from their prayer efforts:
"Including our 40 Days for Life, as many have prayed right outside Planned Parenthood’s doors."
Ferguson also thanked elected officials:
"To uphold the sanctity of life in the state legislature right here in Indiana as well as our U.S. senators and representatives."
Planned Parenthood cited rising costs, low reimbursement rates, lasting effects of Covid-19, the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, and targeted attacks on its reproductive health care.
Officials say patients in the Evansville area can still access care at the state’s ten other locations, as well as through expanded tele-health options.
The Evansville center off N. Weinbach Ave. served nearly 800 patients last year. It does not perform abortions.
It’s final day of in-person appointments will be September 4th.
