Western Kentucky residents whose property was damaged by tornadoes in May have more time to apply for FEMA assistance

Uninsured western Kentucky homeowners and renters who suffered damage to their property from the May 16-17 tornadoes now have until August 22nd to apply for FEMA assistance. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Six counties are eligible for the federal help, including Union and Caldwell.

Residents are encouraged to file insurance claims for damage to their homes, personal property and vehicles before they apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA’s Individual Assistance cannot duplicate insurance benefits or other sources of help.

Eligible residents can apply for FEMA assistance here.

FEMA also has a mobile app and a helpline at 800-621-3362.
