Planned Parenthood says it will close its Evansville clinic in September. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The agency says the last day of in-person services at the facility off N. Weinbach Avenue will be September 4th.
In a release, Planned Parenthood cites rising costs, low reimbursement rates, lasting effects of Covid-19, the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, and targeted attacks on reproductive health care.
The agency also announced closures in Twin Falls, Idaho and Juneau, Alaska.
Officials say patients in the Evansville area can still access care at the state’s ten other locations, as well as through expanded tele-health options.
The Evansville center served nearly 800 patients last year.
It does not perform abortions, but anti-abortion protesters frequently carry signs outside the clinic.
