Evansville and Vanderburgh County agencies have begun a campaign to hire more officers and dispatchers

A public safety recruitment campaign is getting underway in Evansville and Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, and Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch have announced the joint initiative called “One Community, Many Heroes.”

Officials say the campaign seeks dedicated, qualified individuals who are ready to serve their community in essential public safety roles.

Interested persons can visit manyheroes.org to explore opportunities to become a 9-1-1 dispatcher, an Evansville Police Officer, or a Sheriff’s Deputy or Confinement Officer.

Billboards have been placed throughout the community as part of the campaign.

Sheriff Noah Robinson says the effort is about “teamwork, collaboration, and finding people who truly want to make a difference.”

Robinson says public safety is a shared responsibility, and “we’re stronger when we work together.”
