After 66 years, the German Township Fire Department is no more. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The department has merged with the new Vanderburgh County Fire Department to provide what officials are calling “a new chapter of emergency service to the residents of German Township.”
Officials are recognizing the countless hours that past and present volunteers have invested in training and emergency responses since the department opened in 1959.
They say the amount of sacrifices made by these individuals is “immeasurable.”
Officials are also thanking township residents for unwavering support and generous donations over the years.
Many German Township officers and firefighters will remain in active service with the county department.
