CenterPoint Energy says its redesigned electric bills will clarify charges and boost customer understanding

CenterPoint Energy says your next electric bill will look different. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The utility company says it has updated the format of its electric bills for southern Indiana customers.

CenterPoint says the revised layout is designed to provide a clearer breakdown of monthly charges and support greater customer understanding of their energy use and how bills are calculated.

The company emphasizes the revisions do not add any new charges.

CenterPoint says electric charges will be labeled under four groups: Customer Facilities Charge, Variable Base Charges, Fuel Charges and Adjustments.

The company says the goal is to help customers understand how each item contributes to their total bill.

CenterPoint Senior Vice President Mike Roeder says improving how the company communicates with customers is a “responsibility we take seriously.”

Roeder says the update builds on regulatory direction and customer feedback, and reflects the company’s commitment to “transparency.”
