A half-million dollar grant will renew youth programs at the University of Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Lilly Endowment’s $500,000 grant is part of a second round of Indiana Youth Programs on Campus.
UE says the renewed support enables the university to expand its programming and empower local students to imagine, prepare for, and pursue college and career success from an early age.
The new grant builds on one-million dollars UE received during the inaugural funding in 2022.
Since then, the university says it has engaged more than 1,200 elementary through high school students in summer camps, school visits, and after-school programming – including UE Explorers.
Many of the participants come from underserved neighborhoods and would be first-generation college students, underscoring UE's commitment to equitable access and early engagement.
The university says young people are discovering their passions, building self-confidence, and experiencing college life up close through hands-on camps in STEM, music, art, and leadership.
