Protesters gather outside the Denton Federal Building in downtown Evansville, Tues., Sept.29, 2025

The demonstration starts at 1 p.m. Saturday outside the Denton Federal Building in Downtown Evansville, Indiana

Local activists will join protesters across the country this weekend calling for “no kings.” WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:

The groups Indivisible Evansville and Evansville Resistance are organizing Saturday’s event outside the Denton Federal Building on Martin Luther King Blvd.

The demonstration is one of many to be held across the U.S. as a response to President Trump’s planned Flag Day military parade in Washington D.C.

The groups call that event a “dangerous spectacle meant to project power, not patriotism.”

Organizer Wendy Bredhold says the local event will be a peaceful demonstration that will stand in solidarity with Pride celebrations, Veterans’ events, and upcoming Juneteenth commemorations.

Bredhold says the goal is to “say it loud: America has no kings.”

The local protest starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.
