Group Releases Trails Master Plan

Evansville Trails Coalition

The plan from the Evansville Trails Coalition features a network of existing and proposed pedestrian and bike routes

The Evansville Trails Coalition has announced its first-ever regional master plan. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The plan outlines a network of existing and proposed walking and biking routes.

They include an Angel Mounds to Newburgh Trail that would extend eastward and connect cultural, recreational, and historic destinations.

The plan also calls for improvements to the Lincoln Avenue Corridor that would enhance trail access to parks and schools.

Another part of the plan is a Downtown John Street Crossing, an urban trail connector improving access and safety at the Lloyd Expressway.

The master plan also includes a Future USI Trail Connection, a proposed westward extension that would link the university to the broader regional trail network.

Another part of the plan is a Boonville Greenway via the old Norfolk Southern Line. It’s described as a potential rail-to-trail conversion linking Evansville and Boonville while aligning with the American Discovery Trail.

The Trails Coalition says the master plan was guided by public input and shaped through collaboration with regional leaders, trail advocates, and community stakeholders.

Mayor Stephanie Terry declared Friday "Evansville Trails Day."
