Evansville Firefighters put out a warehouse blaze while a small fire erupted in the department's own administration building

Evansville firefighters extinguished a warehouse fire and a blaze at the department’s own headquarters on Sunday. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Crews were dispatched to the warehouse in the 100 block of North Kentucky Avenue yesterday (Sun) morning.

EFD Public Information Officer Kim Garrett says the sprinkler system helped keep the fire contained until crews extinguished the blaze.

Garrett says firefighters tapped out the fire in about 45 minutes and no one was injured.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Meanwhile, Garrett says a fire department command vehicle inside the EFD’s administration building caught fire when a battalion chief was retrieving it as crews battled the warehouse fire.

She says the fire inside the administration building on SE 8th St. was quickly extinguished and there was no structural damage.
