For 38 years, the venue has supported the arts and culture of the local area. It has also preserved the history of President Abraham Lincoln’s time in Indiana with educational performances of his life.
Overall, the upgrades were about giving patrons more space to engage with the amphitheatre and fellow guests.
“At the heart of (the upgrades) are 700 additional seats that will allow more people to enjoy our unique summer experience while also allowing us to diversify our entertainment options,” Marc Steczyk, Director of the Lincoln Amphitheatre, said in an informational video posted to Facebook.
The additional seats are split between four new spaces. Two patios add room for socializing and for a lower cost ticket option, two sections of open-air stadium seats were constructed.
This brings the total number of seats in the space from 1,500 to 2,200.
With the four new seating areas, comes four new ticket options. Patio 1816, Patio 1830, Starlight Seating 1 and Starlight Seating 2 are the new options available, in addition to the General and VIP ticket selection.
The names of the patios can be connected to the years Lincoln arrived and departed from Indiana.
2025 also marks 10 years since the Indiana Office of Tourism Development assumed day to day management of the amphitheatre; previously it was managed by the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association.
Formed in 1977, the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association still has a presence at the amphitheatre. They were the first group to perform in the amphitheatre after it was built in 1987 and have performances scheduled in June.
Many of these performances detail Lincoln’s life, specifically his time in Indiana, through song.
This year’s headlining performance lineup starts on May 17th with a sold out show from Foreigners Journey featuring Constantine Maroulis.
