After ICE performed “removal operations” in Evansville Tuesday, more than 100 protesters turned out for an event called “Hands Off Our Neighbors.” WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
"No justice, no peace"
Organizer Wendy Bredhold led the crowd in front of the Denton Federal Building in Downtown Evansville.

The protesters braved occasional downpours to express outrage at the ICE raids.
The event was put together on short notice and with thunderstorms in the forecast.
UE professor and historian James McLeod addressed the crowd:

"We have friends and neighbors and family and co-workers who are too scared to leave their homes who cannot be with us tonight. But we can be here and I'm so glad and so proud to see so many."
ICE has not said how many people may have been taken into custody locally.

Evansville Police Chief Philip Smith and Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson say their agencies were informed in advance that ICE would be conducting “enforcement and removal operations.”
In a release, the EPD and Sheriff’s office said they were not assisting in the operations.
