No residents were hurt, but pets were reported inside

Evansville firefighters extinguished an apartment fire Sunday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Firefighters were called to the 2600 block of Arbors Drive in the Westcott Apartments, between Burkhardt Road and I-69, at about 7:30 p.m.

They found flames coming from one upstairs unit spreading to another.

No one was home at the time of the blaze but some pets were believed to be inside.

Crews tapped out the fire in about 40 minutes.

There was no word of injuries to residents or firefighters.

Officials have not yet said what caused the fire.

An investigation continues.
