The Ohio River inches closer to the Greenway on Evansville's riverfront

The Ohio at Evansville is now forecast to crest a little lower than first anticipated

Warrick County Commissioners have declared an emergency. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Commission President Sarah Seaton declared the local disaster emergency as the Ohio River continues to rise.

The declaration will activate any response and recovery plans under the rules of a disaster emergency.

It will also allow aid and assistance to be distributed.

The emergency will be in place for at least one week before it will be re-evaluated.

The Ohio is expected to crest at 51 feet in Newburgh on Saturday. Flood stage at Newburgh is 38 feet.

The river is now forecast to crest at Evansville on Saturday at 48 feet. That’s six feet above flood stage.

The Ohio is expected to crest at Mt. Vernon on Sunday at nearly 49 feet, almost 14 feet above flood stage.
