The University of Evansville has announced its Outstanding Educator awards. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
UE says each of the four local recipients received a surprise announcement at their school, celebrating their “remarkable contributions to education.”
Norah Ferguson was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Ferguson is a third-grade general education teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School.
Stephanie Richie was honored as Outstanding Middle School Teacher. Richie is an eighth-grade English/Language Arts teacher at Thompkins Middle School, where she has taught for 23 years.
Krista Fleming, an Honors Biology teacher at North High School, has been named the Outstanding High School Teacher. Fleming has taught for 30 years, 23 of them at North.
And the Outstanding Principal award went to Evans School Principal Brittney Brown. Prior to her role at Evans, Brown led Oak Hill Elementary to earn a prestigious National Blue Ribbon School designation within two years.
