Sandbags, Sand Available for Flood Threat

Evansville and Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency

The Evansville and Vanderburgh County EMA is offering sandbags; Mulzer is providing sand

As potentially dangerous flooding approaches, emergency agencies are providing free sandbags and businesses are offering free sand. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The local EMA says it’s offering sandbags at no cost to Evansville and Vanderburgh County residents at the agency’s warehouse at 1430 Harmony Way, near Mater Dei High School.

The EMA says it will also provide instructions on how to fill them and build a small dam or levee.

The agency says the Indiana Department of Homeland Security will later reimburse the EMA for the bags.

Meanwhile, Mulzer Crushed Stone on Ohio Street is offering free sand.

Interested persons are asked to enter the facility’s west gate.

A list of other free sand locations in the area can be found on the Evansville Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page.
