Local Battle of the Books set for Fri-Sat

Indiana Battle of the Books

Seven area schools are competing

Students from seven Evansville-area schools are competing in the Indiana Battle of the Books. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The reading competition is for 4th and 5th graders.

They spend the school year reading from a list of 30 books, and then come together to "battle" each other over seven rounds of questions about the books they've read.

The local battle is set for this Friday and Saturday at McCutchanville Elementary School.

This year, teams from seven area schools are competing - Holy Rosary, Evansville Day School, Yankeetown, Evans, McCutchanville, Stockwell, and West Terrace.

Organizers call it an exciting event for kids that celebrates reading great books together.

It culminates with a "Readers' Celebration" and an awards ceremony.
