METS Micro, the pilot program rideshare service, was set to begin expanding to cover the entire city Spring of 2025, thanks to a federal grant. That supporting federal grant was officially cancelled this week, and plans are suspended.

‘Transformative’ City EPA grant was officially terminated, and two health-related Vanderburgh County grants were also cancelled this week

The $20 million Community Change Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was officially terminated this week. It was ‘suspended’ in Mid-March.

Part of the funds would have been used to expand city rideshare service METS Micro citywide.

City Communications Director Joe Atkinson released a statement:

“The City of Evansville received a letter this week stating that the $20 million Community Change grant that we were awarded in December has been terminated. We are currently evaluating what that means for the programs that were included in that grant, and what our next steps might be.”

Cancellations were reportedly part of the EPA's implementation of Trump Administration policies.

Vanderburgh County learned Monday that the Health Department’s Immunization Grant for more than $529,000 was stopped.

On Tuesday they received word that the Health Produce RX grant for $50,800 dollars was also stopped.

WNIN’s Tim Jagielo will have more in-depth coverage this coming week.
