The new 8th District Congressman -- like many Republican members of congress – have recently resisted such meetings.

Event organizer Wendy Bredhold says Messmer is not listening:

"The 8th Congressional District came out and they came out to shame our representative for not listening to us. And I'm very proud of my community today."

Messmer’s office has said he’s in touch with his constituents via one-on-one office hours, emails and phone calls.

Messmer was not the only target of Saturday’s event:

Protesters expressed anger over Musk, the unelected billionaire who has been slashing federal spending.

The crowd expressed numerous concerns over the Trump administration, such as the planned dismantling of the Education Department, the revoking of LGBTQ rights, and what they see as an overall shift toward fascism and a dictatorship.

The event was held in front of the Fifth Third Building, where Messmer’s congressional office is located -- and where Bredhold delivered pages of concerns submitted by protesters on Monday.
