The Evansville Flag Group is celebrating the city’s birthday with a call to service. WNIN’s John Gibson explains:
The city turns 213 next week and officials have illuminated the Old Courthouse in the city’s colors – blue and gold – in a call for volunteerism.
Paraphrasing President Kennedy, the flag group says “ask not what your city can do for you but what you can do for your city.”

Hugh McGary Jr. founded the city on March 27th, 1812.
The WNIN Public Media Center sits at the founding site at Riverside Dr. and Main St.
A historical marker is placed on the side of the building.
