Gibson County Working to Fix Sirens Ahead of Storms

File

Sheriff Vanoven: more contractors have been asked to look at 3 malfunctioning sirens

Gibson County officials say they’re trying to get their storm sirens fixed ahead of potential severe weather. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Sheriff Bruce Vanoven says County Commissioners have reached out to another contractor in Gibson County to have them look at the three storm sirens that aren’t working.

Vanoven also says Emergency Management Director Stephanie McKinney is contacting other contractors to see if they can look at the sirens.

The sheriff announced Thursday that sirens on the South, East, and West sides of Princeton weren’t working properly.

Vanoven says the situation is “continuing to evolve”, and he says County Commissioners, the EMA, and all emergency service personnel in Gibson County are taking the matter seriously.

The National Weather Service says severe storms, including tornadoes, are possible in the Tri-State late tonight (Fri) and Saturday.

If a tornado warning is issued for your area, you’re urged to go to the basement or an interior room away from windows.

Residents in mobile homes should evacuate to a stronger building, or take cover in a ditch or ravine.
