With severe weather in the forecast, Gibson County officials say some of their storm sirens aren’t working. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
County officials say they’re aware of three outdoor weather sirens that are “not in proper working order.”
The sirens are on the South, East, and West sides of Princeton.
Emergency Management Director Stephanie McKinney says the agency is in contact with the county’s contracted company that services and maintains the sirens.
It’s not known if the sirens can be fixed by Friday night, when severe storms are possible in the Tri-State.
The Sheriff’s Office and EMA encourage residents to have at least two other sources for weather alerts.
They note cell phones, weather radios, TV, and traditional radio are all “great resources for weather-related alerts.”
Residents are also reminded that outdoor sirens are designed to be heard outdoors, and you may not be able to hear them indoors or while sleeping.
