GE Aerospace Investing More in Madisonville

File

The $4 million is part of the company's $1 billion investment at its U.S. facilities

A defense contractor says it’s investing nearly $1 billion in its U.S. manufacturing sites and suppliers this year, including more than four-million dollars at its facility in Madisonville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

GE Aerospace says the investment will go toward new machines used to shape metal parts, upgrade other specialized machines, and improve the Madisonville facility and its utilities.

The site produces engine components that go into military fighter jet and helicopter engines.

Site leader Mat West says the investments “keep our defense manufacturing base and the region strong.”

West notes "military men and women count on the engines produced in Madisonville to complete the mission and get them home safely."

Late last year, the GE Aerospace Foundation donated 60-thousand dollars to the Hopkins County School district’s Career and Technical Center.

Officials say the donation provides more equipment, tooling, curriculum, and covers the cost of industry certification exams for students.
