The crowd at the Four Freedoms Monument was led in a chant of “her-story” instead of “history.”
Saturday’s event organized by the group Evansville Resistance featured a number of speakers who shared stories and concerns about the current political environment.

Participants carried signs protesting what they see as attacks on women’s rights by both the Trump and Braun administrations.
They also rejected actions against the LGBTQ community.
The head of Evansville Resistance, identified only as Christina, addressed the crowd:

"It is our duty as Americans to stand up against unjust laws that do nothing but cause pain and suffering to our brothers and sisters."
During a break in the proceedings, protesters lined Riverside Drive to spread their message to passing motorists.

A handful of counter-protesters carrying two Donald Trump flags also attended the event and spoke with the protesters.
There was no word of any confrontations.
