OVC Tournament Tips-Off in Evansville

File

It's the 8th straight year the event has been held at the Ford Center

It’s a busy week of college basketball in Downtown Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament is underway at the Ford Center, with both men’s and women’s teams playing for OVC Championships – and automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

It’s the eighth straight year that Evansville has hosted the event.

It draws teams, fans, and families from across the region, filling up hotels, stores and restaurants.

Officials hope to keep the tournament – and its nearly half-million dollar economic impact -- in Evansville.

The OVC has agreed to stay at the Ford Center through 2026, with an option for 2027.

This year’s tournament continues through Saturday evening.

More: The USI Lady Eagles beat Tennessee State 90-66 in the first round of the OVC tournament on Wednesday. The women's team faces Little Rock at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
