Anthony Summers, 44, of Evansville was found deceased after his car ran off I-69

Authorities have released the name of the man who was found dead after his car ran off I-69 and into Pigeon Creek. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner identified the victim as 44-year-old Anthony Summers of Evansville.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies and McCutchanville firefighters responded to the scene along I-69, north of Lynch Road, Saturday morning.

They found the vehicle off the highway and submerged in Pigeon Creek.

The Evansville Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team was dispatched and removed Summers from the wreckage.

Summers was the only person in the car and he was declared deceased at the scene.

A witness told investigators the car was southbound on I-69 when it left the roadway, entered the median, went up an embankment and became airborne before hitting the ground and entering the creek.

The sheriff’s office says Pigeon Creek was about 27 feet below the highway.

The Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for Monday.
