Deer Cross U.S. 41 to Escape High Water

File

Henderson Police shut down the highway on Saturday to allow a herd to cross

Henderson Police helped a herd of deer across Highway 41 over the weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Why did the deer cross the road? -- to get away from Ohio River floodwaters.

The HPD shut down traffic in both directions near the Twin Bridges Saturday afternoon, as a herd of deer crossed the four-lane highway.

The deer are on the move as the Ohio River is above flood stage.

The river was expected to crest yesterday (Sun) at Evansville at 44 feet – two feet above flood stage.

A Flood Warning continues through Tuesday night.
