Pet Cat Blamed for House Explosion

File
Evansville Fire Station 17 on Mill Road

The blast in the 1100 Heerdink Avenue damaged the house but caused no injuries

Authorities are investigating an explosion inside an Evansville home. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 1100 block of Heerdink Avenue – between First Avenue and Fulton – at about 7:45 Monday morning.

A resident told Central Dispatch that a cat knocked over a butane tank that fell in front of a propane heater, causing an explosion.

The caller said it blew out a wall but did not injure anyone.

An AMR ambulance was sent to the scene to check out the residents.

CenterPoint Energy and the Building Commissioner’s Office were also requested at the scene.
