Monday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and two Evansville libraries are hosting special programs. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
EVPL Stringtown will feature “Early Warning Signs: A United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Poster Series.”
It will be on display from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the library at 2100 Stringtown Road.
Meanwhile, EVPL Oaklyn will host an event from 3 – 5 p.m. featuring a book display, testimonies, and local connections to Holocaust survivors.
EVPL Oaklyn is off Oak Hill Road, just south of Lynch Road.
The United Nations designated January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day because it’s the date the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps were liberated in 1945 – 80 years ago.
About one million of the roughly six million Jewish people killed in the Holocaust died at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
