Amcor-Berry Talks Set For February

File

The two companies have filed a "definitive joint proxy statement"

Another step is taken toward the merger of Evansville-based Berry Global and Amcor. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The companies say they’ve filed a definitive joint proxy statement that calls for Amcor and Berry shareholder meetings next month.

It was announced in November that Switzerland-based Amcor wants to purchase Berry for eight-point-four billion dollars in an all-stock transaction.

Amcor, like Berry, produces consumer packaging, containers and closures.

Berry CEO Kevin Kwilinski has said the merger with Amcor is the “logical next step” in the company’s evolution.

Berry is one of the Evansville area’s biggest employers.

There’s no word on what impact the deal might have on the local workforce.
