EVSC Superintendent David Smith to Retire

EVSC

Dr. Smith has been employed by the school corporation 43 years, 14 as superintendent

The superintendent of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is retiring. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Dr. David Smith says he will step down from the EVSC, effective July 1st.

Smith says he made the decision to retire “with a full heart and bittersweet emotion.”

He notes the current school year marks his 43rd year with the EVSC, as a teacher, a principal, and his 14th year as superintendent.

Smith says he’s filled with gratitude for the “countless experiences and relationships” that have shaped his professional and personal life.

He also says it’s the right time to take this step.

Over the next six months, Smith says he looks forward to working alongside the EVSC’s staff to support students and ensure a smooth transition.

The EVSC’s Board of Trustees will decide who replaces Smith as superintendent.
