Ice, Snow Mix and Cold Snap on the Way

NWS: Winter Storm on Sunday to be followed by colder air

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Tri-State, starting early Sunday morning. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The National Weather Service says the predicted track of the approaching storm has shifted slightly north, meaning areas south of Madisonville may be in the clear.

But in the Evansville-Henderson-Owensboro area, forecasters expect a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow on Sunday.

The agency is predicting 2-to-4 inches of snow and a tenth to a quarter of an inch of ice by Monday morning.

Forecasters urge residents in the watch area to put emergency supplies in your car, replenish fuel for your vehicle and heating sources, and stay tuned to the latest weather updates.

The ice and snow is expected to be followed by colder air, with highs in the 20’s Monday and Tuesday, and in the upper teens Wednesday and Thursday.
