I-69 ORX Reaches Another "Milestone"

File

Crews have opened lanes in Henderson as the huge bridge project moves forward

Officials are calling it another milestone for Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing project. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Officials say two new bridges and a new roadway – the future southbound I-69 -- are opening to traffic in time for the holidays.

It’s the final configuration for traffic that will be in place when the I-69 Ohio River Crossing is complete.

Crews have built new lanes of southbound US 41 just north of the KY 351/2nd Street exit, and they’ve completed work on new bridges at Van Wyk Road and Canoe Creek.

Officials say moving traffic to the future I-69 will eliminate the crossover that that’s been in place since last summer.

The second lane of traffic on northbound US 41 over KY 351 is also reopening to traffic.

It’s been closed for work on the new bridges over KY 351 or 2nd Street.
