A donation to a Salvation Army red kettle will soon be worth more than face value. WNIN’s John Gibson explains:
The Salvation Army of Evansville says a special match begins this Thursday and runs through Christmas Eve.
The group says all large bills $20 and up will be matched 5-to-1, turning a $20 donation into $100.
Donations smaller than $20 will be matched 1-to-1, doubling the impact of even the smallest gifts.
The Salvation Army says the match is thanks to anonymous local donors who have donated more than $63,000.
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle can find them at several stores, including Walmart, Sam's Club, Schnucks, IGA, and Hobby Lobby from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The Salvation Army is still looking for one-hour volunteer bell ringers.
