Youth First Receives $100,000 for Student, Family Programs

Youth First, Inc.

The CenterPoint donation will help 8 area schools

A group that helps kids in need is celebrating a one-hundred-thousand dollar holiday gift. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The CenterPoint Energy Foundation awarded the money to Youth First, Incorporated to strengthen the mental health and well-being of students in eight schools across Vanderburgh, Posey, and Gibson counties.

Youth First says the donation from the utility company’s foundation -- along with funding from other sources -- will enable Youth First to provide school-based student assistance program and family and community prevention programs.

The schools are Washington and McGary middle schools in Vanderburgh County, North and West elementary schools in Posey County, and Wood Memorial high, middle, intermediate, and primary schools in Gibson County.

Youth First says it embeds highly trained mental health professionals in school buildings, partnering with 125 schools across 14 Indiana counties.

President and CEO Parri Black says she’s grateful for a continued partnership with the CenterPoint Energy Foundation to build strong futures for kids.
