The Evansville City Council is expected to vote tonight (Mon) on an ordinance to revamp the Area Plan Commission. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The commission approves how land is used in both the city and county.
Vanderburgh County Commissioners announced last year that they wanted to end Area Plan as a city-county department and create a separate commission just for the county.
Officials said it could save the county a half-million dollars a year.
Last week, the Vanderburgh County Council approved a revamping of the APC that would keep the joint city-county commission but it reduces the number of members from 13 to 9 and changes the term limits for its members.
The City Council will review the agreement Monday night.
If the plan passes, the changes to Area Plan will take effect Jan. 1st.
